Monthly Media: November 2025 Wrap-up
So it's been two weeks since I posted Monthly Media: November 2025 and I'm happy to report the results.
I keep start and end dates of all these things in a private Notion database.
Series
Anime
- Inazuma Eleven | Rewatch
- I finished watching Inazuma Eleven S1 last week. I had technically watched it thrice this past... month? Two months because I watched the 2025 movie Prologue of the New Heroes twice. This makes me sound kind of obsessed (which is true) but also because I don't tend to rewatch stuff that often. No regrets though. OG Raimon has such good team dynamics. Very found family. I'm also really fond of the squiggly art quality at times. The music and feels carry this season like Gouenji did on that first match against Teikoku/j. I really like the animation. Still my comfort anime. I didn't keep a start or end date for this because it's a rewatch.
- My Happy Marriage | First Time
- ShouJosei jut hits the spot! I really like feminine characters and stories who put communication and empathy above violence and power. This anime is my jam! It took me a while to get through both seasons—August 12th to November 18th—so about three months. It took me this long because I binged the first half of S1 but then stopped for a while (a good while apparently). Mostly because of the abuse. Had to process that. Same with happen edge with S2. I wonder if it's easier for me to get through heart wrenching stuff in one swoop and then process it for a while (read: weeks).
Live Action
- Saitama Host Club | First Time
- A silly eight episode drama that I found describe as a shoujo slap stick comedy with Found Family themes. Definitely shouldn't have used too many braincells while watching this as it doesn't take itself too seriously. I thought it was an adaptation from a shoujo manga bc of how silly it is, the stoic female MC, and the character archetypes from all the host club members but it's actually an original. Clearly I don't know enough about the Jdrama scene. Because I started it on a whim, I don't remember the start date (same month I think?) but I finished it on November 27th.
Cartoons
- inside job | First Time
- Watched this from November 11th to the 23rd, so about two weeks. I have been watching more adult cartoons and growing fond of them. I seem to gravitate to those with childhood trauma and moral greyness like archer and BoJack Horseman in contrast to shows like Futurama which I used to be a huge fan of when I was younger. This show was like a test of my knowledge of US culture and politics and I was proud of myself when I understood a joke and references. Not sure if it's US comedy specifically but they do tend to make references to actors and political figures and assume people know what they're talking about. This show was so unambiguously leftist and I respect anyone who is trying something new (as far as I know). Super super sad it got cancelled though. Have to say, I wasn't fond of the twist with Rand in S2 because it was too out of left field (looked like they had to redeem him bc he was a white guy and/or a dad). I really liked all the characters from the main group, particularly the pathetic wet dog of a person Brett cuz fuck toxic masculinity! What a good boy! Reminds me of Luo Binghe.
Books
- Su Lluvia en Mi Piel | First Time
- A novel that it's probably not sold as yuri but if the gloves fits. A "leave your toxic boyfriend for you fated lesbian crush" with an undertone of internalized and societal homophobia, family drama, and politics. The last one took me by surprise. Very "Run Away With Me, Girl" vibes. It's also kind of a light novel for the little drawings sprinkled in between chapters. Must have taken a good while to get this done for a self-published local artist. My most unusual find and surprising read of the year for sure. Do I love a connection between queer love and the natural world! Gotta say I was really moved when they reached the top of the volcano. "Love is found at the end of the world~ !🎶
- I do have to say that the misunderstanding was kind of annoying. Apart from it being overused in romance and despite it being used for the MC to double down in her choice and ig it did fit her character... it was just melodramatic. Not my cup of tea but at least it didn't last to long. And MC mandó a la mierda al ex novio que la engañó which was really satisfying. For some reason the end of the novel made me want to read a sequel where the ex-boyfriend finds a new partner. . . but they are a guy. BL side couple! I read this novel between October 15th (day of purchase) to November 26th.
I might make a media masterlist post for next year and pick stuff from it every month, and/or populate it as I find new things.
Let's meet again in the next post!
