Pillowfort: One Week Later
[This post has been crossposted on Tumblr, Pillowfort, and DW.]
It's been about seven days since I created a Pillowfort account. For me, it's a good checkpoint for me to have formed thoughts about a platform and have somewhat identified how I want to proceed in regard to my future use of it.
Thoughts on Pillowfort
All in all, my experience has been GREAT! I feel at ease hanging out there in no small part because of the robust filtering and blacklisting systems, and post visibility options.
From what I gathered, Pillowfort was specifically designed as a Tumblr alternative. It may not work smoothly all the time, but I'm happy to expand my online presence in a platform that is 100% sustained by users plus other stuff I care about when it comes to fandom spaces.
TLDR; I love pfio, feel super comfy unlike in Tumblr, and want to continue using the platform.
Now, what do I want to use Pfio for?
aka Establishing Personal Ground Rules.
- Posting/Crossposting
Kind of the main reason why I joined Pfio was to find a less toxic blogging alternative to Tumblr, regardless of fandom-I'm-interested-in presence. There have been quite a few things I didn't feel comfortable sharing on Tumblr. I still don't feel comfortable posting there. I cross my fingers each time I don't get a mean comment in the comment section or tags. It happened once in 2025 and I can't help but recall this quote from Hikigaya Hachiman, "A highly trained loner is once bitten, twice shy." Althought I just recalled 'once bitten, twice shy.' ...This is probably a really outdated reference (and frankly embarrassing to make) let me use a meme instead.
Apart from that, I think it will also be a place to crosspost from DW, maybe even Fedi, and whatever Tumblr-only posts already there. In other words, a mixed bag of short form and long form posts.
- Interacting
As for interactions, as much as it pains me, I have to limit those to current mutuals. Between Fedi and DW, I'm feeling pretty stretched out.
While I won't be actively seeking folks to follow, I do welcome folks to comment on my posts! I'm willing to become mutuals with folks who interact with my posts and share similar interests. Also folks I'm mutual with from other sites.
How does this affect my Tumblr activity? Well, it's going to lessen. I don't have FOMO from the IE fandom being active there because I use an RSS Feed Reader to receive posts from some mutuals (it needs some work tho). Take that Web 2.0! I'm working on a post about how I set this up btw. So the posts I interact with from now on will be those I get to my RSS reader. I do check my activity feed every other day and will continue to maintain the Ina11Recs sideblog.
TLDR; Pfio account will receive crossposts from my Fedi account, Tumblr, and DW. Tumblr presence will be limited to maintaining the Ina11Recs sideblog and interacting with mutuals.
