Monthly Media: May 2026 Wrap-up
It's been half a year since I wrote one of these. May is special to me for many reasons and I want to properly document the awesome media I interacted with!
Videogames
- Night with Timber (18+) | First time
- Oh my god oh my god, what can I say about this game? It's amazing??? IT'S AMAZING!!! breathes hard. So NWT launched last November if I remember correctly. I've been wanting to play it for at least a whole month and this month WHAM, I did. And I had the time of my life. It's kind of a funny coincidence, okay it's not funny but I'm glad that a family member was safe from having a Timber-like encounter the day before. But I digress!!! I REALLY WANT TO RECOMMEND THIS GAME!!! I RECOMMEND THIS GAME—to fans dating sims fans for the first half, to Light and L fans for the second half. The game was masterfully written. One of the things I really enjoy about the Namiverse is how it plays with stereotypes, particularly the predator-prey relationship between rabbits and wolves. I'm just a huge fan of xenofiction (* ^ ω ^).
- My first impressions of the game were that Timber was really sympathetic, #TeamTimber and fuck Senbei, what a shitty rabbit! Throughout the game I kept thinking, "what the hell is wrong with this guy? (⊙_⊙)" and "WHAT THE HELL is WRONG WITH GUY?! (╯°益°)╯彡┻━┻". Naturally, right after playing the game I was really grossed out by the idea of Timbei (Timber x Senbei shipname) but after reading the Mason AU, Foxy Catch, and the latest ask round (#for the brick maniacs), I understood what the fuss was about. His non-canon interactions with Timber are really funny. He's such a freak (affectionate).
- Next on my game list is Date Senbei, his non-canon game. I hope I get to bully him (affectionate) (* ^ ω ^) .
- As with the rest of Nami's games, NWT is unapologetically queer and I love it for it. Also I love how the game releases went from the wholesome BL era to the toxic yaoi era haha. The trio introduced in this game is such a reverse card from the Treat, Moxie, and Mochi polycule.
- I need to scream more about this game in an in-depth review. I NEED you guys to know how WELL this game is written.
- your omega catboy apprentice got sent into heat by a tentacle monster and now you have to f*ck him (18+)
- Whoops, I almost forgot about this. It's a really short game with a descriptive title. I played it because I like ABO themes. I'm not sure if there's really not much going on in this game because I don't follow the creator but it's a sex scene. It's fun to work for reading porn (moving the mouse to click choices and get all the possible scenes). On a technical standpoint, I was amazed that it was merely an HTML5 files because that means... I could make one... KeiKiyo interactive smut... brain is cooking. Oh lord.
Series
Anime
- Windbreaker S2 | First time
- I'm not sure if I saw Season 1 this month but I finished S2! Man I really like this series. I'm so happy to watch another project from Honeyworks! I've been a fan of them since highschool and they always choose to work in shoujo-esque series. The protagonist is what I loving call a "social rehabilitation project" in which his character development is about opening up to human kindness and forge relationships. He grows so much during these two seasons it's lovely to best witness. Emotionally constipated characters are my favorite! Also Tsubaki's episode was SO GOOD??? It made me cry.
- Shiboyugi, Playing Death Gamed to Put Food on the Table | First time
- This one snuck up on me as I was looking at the Netflix offerings. The auto trailer thingy seemed interesting and I got hooked from the first episode. I'm a big enjoyer of death game stories (eg. The Hunger Games, 999 Series, Danganronpa, etc) because they're character centered and have some creative worlds. Shiboyugi has two elements plus some fantastic animation style. It reminded how much I used to enjoy reading light novels back in the day that I may really go back to them.
Books
- The Husky and His White Cat Shizun (2ha/Erha) Vol. 3 | Reread?
- After a whole year, I finally continued with this series. I purchased vol. 3 and 4 at the same time because I knew just one wouldn't be enough haha. I think I'll do same next time. This is labeled as a reread because I read the unofficial English translation before it was picked up by Seven Seas. So the first few volumes are already stuff I had read, including this volume. Nevertheless, I was a heart wrenching volume full of twists and turns. This volume marked a permanent shift in the story and Mo Ran's character.
- I have a bunch of really spoilery things to say in a file with my reading notes I started back way when that now I really want to add to my NSFW site!
Thanks for reading!
