Random Ramblings about RDR2-Inspired Kageyama Fix-it Redemption
Not sure what the heck I was trying to accomplish here. There was nothing I found doable to this draft that made it remote better so you're getting some highly unedited stuff. Wrote this last year around October or November perhaps. Spoilers for Red Dead Redemption 2 and Umineko When They Cry.
Idk why I had this idea. Not even sure how to implement it. I think Demonio Strada ought to go though.
I don't remember all the details but I think between the last we see him during the Aliea arc and his reintroduction as Mr. K., something could have happened to him.
Of course, he won't die as a good person but its about redemption and choosing who to be while carrying the weight of your sins. All the people he hurt, apologizing won't change anything.
What made Arthur so likeable was that he got a death sentence in the form of tuberculosis from his own actions. In other words, karmic retribution. He doesn't try to earn anyone's sympathy. He's selfless. Truly selfless. He's not... he's facing his own mortality. He has the chance to be something better than who he has been before. I'm not sure if it's only through player choice but he became an "honorable man." He helped multiple people including his own. The people he already cared about, the things he cared about. Even if he died all alone, his actions impacted many people's lives.
So I guess if Kageyama ought to be believably redeemed, then he ought to... I guess develop a terminal illness first? Haha. Anyways, he needs a good punch in the gut first. Go through something real bad that put things into perspective.
What made Arthur interesting was that he was still part of the gang despite his moral changes. He still threatened people and stole but outside of that and also there, he was caring in his own way and put other's safety above his own.
So I guess if Kageyama were to still be Garshield's lackey then apart from Rushe he should have also helped Demonio instead of messing him up. I don't remember why he was placed as Italy's coach but even if it was part of Garshield's influence, he should have treated the kids with respect and cared for them, contrasting deeply with how he commanded Teikoku.
Also, during his redemption, he should have acknowledged how much he loved soccer and his father, and how much his father's decline and abandonment affected him and his mom. He may have conflicted feelings about it, and naturally feel guilty for taking it out of Endou Daisuke.
Talking about that guy though, we never got to know how Endou Daisuke felt about the whole thing. He knew his life was in danger and left the country but as an adult, was it possible that he knew one of his students was a mole and the cause of the accident?
Fuck, now Kageyama reminds me more of Gendou. Poor motherfucker. What if Daisuke lost faith in him instead of, you know, talking to the kid??? Daisuke might or might not know about Reiji being Kageyama's Tobio's son.
Well, now this reminds me of Ange and Bernkastel where the gullible kid is tricked into rejecting the person who wants to connect with them in exchange of something. In this case, Reiji is the kid and Garshield is the witch. Daisuke tried to offer help but Reiji rejected it, forcing Daisuke to leave the country for his family's safety.
